This basement renovation is located in Brampton. The homeowner is a dedicated school teacher with four children, and the main goal of this renovation was to create a larger, more functional entertainment space for the kids. Layout: After completing the on-site measurements, we designed a customized floor plan based on the family’s needs (see Image 2). The final layout includes one bedroom, one bathroom, a living area, and two storage rooms, providing both comfort and practicality for daily use. Staircase: To enhance the sense of openness, we removed the original enclosed stair wall and replaced it with open wrought-iron railings paired with a hardwood handrail, allowing light to flow through the space while improving overall visual connection. Color Scheme: The basement features a modern combination of grey tones and wood-look flooring. For those interested, here are the wall paint colors used in this project—feel free to save them for reference: Living Room Walls: HC-178 Primary Bedroom Walls: HC-168 Living Room Feature Wall: HC-169 Lighting: For lighting, we selected 3000K recessed spotlights, with a total of approximately 30–40 fixtures, ensuring the basement feels warm, bright, and inviting. Flooring: Since the space is mainly designed for children’s activities, we chose waterproof vinyl flooring, which is durable, safe, and easy to maintain.
