You can refer to the first photo to see how the original bathroom looked. It came with a standard builder-grade layout: a bulky drop-in bathtub that took up space, a small enclosed shower with grey panels that felt dark and cramped, and a basic double-sink vanity. Layout Transformation Before starting the renovation, the homeowner’s main request was to make the bathroom feel more spacious, brighter, and to have a larger, more comfortable shower area. To achieve this, we redesigned the layout by switching the positions of the bathtub and shower. This change allowed us to create an extended walk-in shower without compromising the toilet area, making the entire bathroom feel more open and functional. Color Palette & Finishes For the design direction, we selected a wood-tone vanity paired with gold fixtures. Currently, the three most popular hardware finishes are gold, matte black, and silver. It is very important to keep all hardware finishes consistent throughout the bathroom. Mixing multiple finishes can make the space feel uncoordinated. Once we confirmed the gold theme, everything from hinges to shower fixtures was matched in gold to maintain a cohesive and elegant look. For tiles, we chose grey wall tiles and white floor tiles to create a modern and balanced contrast. All tiles were sourced from Olympia Tile. Floor tile: EX.PS.WHT.18×36.SP Wall tile: EX.PS.LGR.18×36.SP Vanity & Storage Design To increase storage space, we added a double-door tower cabinet between the two sinks. A key detail we considered was moisture protection. Since vanity countertops are frequently exposed to water, we installed a marble backsplash and protective base under the tower to prevent long-term water damage and maintain durability. Shower Area The shower base was constructed using large-format 18×36 tiles, which allowed us to incorporate a linear drain system. We highly recommend linear drains — especially for homeowners with long hair — as they often come with built-in hair catchers that make maintenance much easier and help prevent clogging. It’s a practical and modern solution that improves both drainage performance and daily convenience. Project Location : Oakville Contractor : Reno Compass Inc.
