Today we’re excited to share an Aurora multi-functional basement renovation project—a space designed for gatherings, daily living, and maximum versatility. This basement features approximately 1,200 sq. ft. of space with 8-foot ceilings. The homeowner’s requirements included a bar area, fitness zone, family room, bedroom/office, bathroom, and storage room, creating a layout that fully supports comfortable long-term living. Bar Area: The custom bar was built using Egger cabinetry panels, paired with a wood-grain island and gold hardware for a refined look. Under-cabinet lighting was incorporated as a key design detail, adding warmth and depth to the space. Bathroom: The bathroom tiles were sourced from Olympia Tile. A floating vanity with under-cabinet lighting is paired with an LED mirror to enhance both functionality and ambiance. The shower features a full black-framed glass enclosure, adding visual contrast and structure. Inside the shower, a 45-degree recessed soap niche was seamlessly integrated, demonstrating precise craftsmanship and attention to detail. Bedroom: In the bedroom, we utilized an existing fireplace niche to custom-build a compact desk, maximizing a previously underused area. For added convenience, a direct access door to the bathroom was added, transforming the bedroom into a private ensuite-style space. A feature wall was also introduced as a key design element, enhancing the depth and character of the living area—an effective way to elevate the overall design without excessive cost. Fitness Area: A custom black-framed fitness mirror was installed, offering both practicality for workouts and a visual expansion of the basement, making the space feel brighter and more open. Staircase: Many basement staircases are enclosed by partition walls. After confirming structural feasibility, the wall was removed and replaced with an open staircase featuring metal railings and handrails. This not only improves visual openness when entering the basement but also makes moving furniture significantly easier.
