Today, we’re sharing a full-home renovation project of a Markham townhouse, covering the transformation from the basement up to the second floor. Layout The original layout of this townhouse was relatively enclosed, with darker tones throughout the space. On the main floor, we removed the load-bearing wall between the kitchen and the living room, opening up the sightlines and significantly enhancing the sense of space and natural light in the living area. Flooring, Staircase & Tiles With the removal of the wall between the kitchen and living room, maintaining visual continuity became a key design goal. We installed tile flooring only in the entryway, while all other areas—including the kitchen—feature MUJI-style engineered hardwood flooring in a natural wood tone. The flooring was installed using a seamless, no–shoe molding method, creating a cleaner, more modern, and minimalist visual effect. Bathrooms The bathrooms follow a refined material palette combining micro cement textures with warm wood tones, balancing modern simplicity with natural warmth.
